Establishing music appreciation in K-12 schools in Georgia and New York
The need for pre-college music training is great in the communities of both Northeast Georgia and Northern New York from which we hail. We want to help establish (or re-establish) music appreciation and instrumental instruction in K-12 schools, and eventually, working with schools, community arts centers, churches and civic organizations, found training academies North and South. Our partial model for this is the Atlanta Symphony's Franklin Pond Chamber Music Program. Its purpose aligns with our core goals — "not only to educate, but to spread music throughout the community" (https://franklinpond.org). In our case, we take 'community' as synonymous with Marie's 'street-corners'. A smorgasbord of such places occupies the Outreach side of our Möbius strip diagram.
